Endurance (End) is an attribute.
It's primary role is to represent as the character's capacity to take hits.
This attribute's initial value acts like a damage buffer. Whenever the character takes damage - during battle, by falling, from traps, etc. - it is primarily deducted from his current endurance. When End reaches 0, the character is assumed to fall unconscious (if strength is still > 0). In battle mode, this means the character will collapse to the ground until the battle ends; during other events, End is automatically restored to a small value (the character is assumed to regain consciousness shortly after).
Endurance also plays a role in the load a character can carry. Because of this, it's important to watch End, Str and load during battle, because a character may become overloaded as End drops.
End and Str together make the primary attributes in battles.
But, contrary to Str, End is easily lost, and easily regained. End restores by a considerable amount right after battle, gradually as time passes in-game, and very quickly while resting.
Note that battle duration or load have no direct effect on Edurance: it will not decrease because the character becomes tired.
